Tensile Test, elongation, Flattening and Doubling-Over Test, Drift Expanding Test, Eddy-Current Test, Hydrostatic Test, Pneumatic Test are some of the requirements stated in IS 2501:1995

IS 10773:1995 WROUGHT COPPER TUBES FOR REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING PURPOSE

Refrigeration and air conditioning systems rely on efficient heat transfer, making the choice of tubing material pivotal. IS 10773:1995 sets forth the specifications for wrought copper tubes tailored specifically for these applications. These tubes are engineered to withstand varying temperature ranges, corrosion resistance, and compatibility with refrigerants. This standard covers the requirements of solid drawn ( seamless ) copper tubes in straight length or coil form for air-conditioning and refrigeration purposes. This standard covers two grades of copper tubes, namely, Grade 1 and Grade 2. The tube shall be manufactured from tube shell by drawing. The tubes shall be supplied either in soft annealed, condition. light annealed or light drawn The tube shall be cut to size in coil or straight length, duly drafted and sealed at both ends. Tubes shall not be manufactured from used tubes. Tensile Test, elongation, Flattening and Doubling-Over Test, Drift Expanding Test, Eddy-Current Test, Hydrostatic Test, Pneumatic Test and Hydrogen Embrittlement Test are some of the requirements stated in IS 10773:1995

QUALITY CONTROL ORDER (TECHNICAL REGULATION) ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE, MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, GOVT. OF INDIA ON 17 OCTOBER 2023 FOR MANDATORY BIS CERTIFICATION

The DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, has issued an order, making it mandatory for copper tubes as per IS 2501 and IS 10773 to be used in India, whether manufactured in India or imported from foreign countries, shall mandatorily carry the Standard Mark (ISI Mark ) of the Bureau of Indian Standards under a valid BIS licence. In short, it has become obligatory for all the manufacturers of copper tubes as per IS 2501 and IS 10773 from 16 April 2024 , whether in India or overseas, to immediately apply for BIS licence and obtain a valid BIS certification licence.
