IS 21:1992 – WROUGHT ALUMINIUM AND ALUMINIUM ALLOYS FOR MANUFACTURE OF UTENSILS

IS 21:1992, in its fourth revision, covers the requirements for  wrought aluminium and aluminium alloys used in the manufacture of utensils. Besides dimensions and tolerances, the standard prescribes requirements for tensile strength, bend test, elongation, 0.2 percent proof stress and chemical composition for various designations of aluminium alloys.

IS 1254:2007 – CORRUGATED ALUMINIUM SHEET

IS 1254:2007, also in its fourth revision, specifies the material, profile dimensions and finish for the corrugated aluminium sheets meant for  a) General purpose, b) Industrial, and c) Building. Besides dimensions and tolerances, the standard prescribes requirements for squarenesstensile strength, bend test, elongation, 0.2 percent proof stress and chemical composition for various designations of aluminium alloysstandards.

IS 17682:2021 – ALUMINIUM COMPOSITE PANEL

This standard covers the requirements for flat aluminium composite panel (ACP) intended for external applications, such as cladding façades, curtain walls, soffits, canopy and high mast monolith; those intended for internal use, such as partitions, ceilings and column encasement; those for use in transportation related application like railway coach furnishing; and fire-retardant ACP with a wide range of properties appropriate to the type of application. Standard specifies physical, mechanical, coating  and fire-retardant requirements of ACP.

QUALITY CONTROL ORDER (TECHNICAL REGULATION) ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT FOR PROMOTION OF INDUSTRY AND INTERNAL TRADE, MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, GOVT. OF INDIA ON 25 SEPTEMBER 2023 FOR MANDATORY BIS CERTIFICATION

The DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, has issued an order, making it mandatory for all aluminum products mentioned above  to be used in India, whether manufactured in India or imported from foreign countries, shall mandatorily carry the Standard Mark of the Bureau of Indian Standards under a valid BIS licence.  In short, it has become obligatory for all the manufacturers of aluminum and aluminum alloy mentioned above, wherein in India or overseas, to immediately apply for BIS licence and obtain a valid BIS certification licence before that the last date of implementation of the order, i.e., 24 March 2024.
