Latest on CRS
Manufacturers of Lithium cells and batteries under CRS must act immediately — identify lead models, engage a BIS lab, submit test reports and undertakings via the CRS portal, and ensure all series models are covered. Non-compliance risks licence suspension or cancellation.
Companies holding CRS registrations for IT, audio/video, or consumer electronics products must plan their migration well before November 2028. New test reports under IS/IEC 62368-1 from BIS-recognised labs will be required, and new R-numbers will be issued. The CRS portal update from BIS is awaited; companies should monitor and engage a compliance partner to manage the transition smoothly.
