As specified in the Conformity Assessment Regulations (2018), the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has started rolling out certificates of compliance under Scheme IV. These include BIS certification for Stampings/laminations/cores of transformers (with or without winding). According to the proposal ‘Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Order 2019’ recently issued by the Steel Ministry, the mandatory testing requirements of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for two categories of products have been established.
Steel items included under the ambit of quality control
Stampings/laminations/transformers cores (with or without winding) shall be made of BIS standard steel sheet and strip, as specified in the draft order, in accordance with certain Indian Standard (IS) specifications. In addition, stainless steel pipes and tubes must be made of stainless steel products as specified in the IS Regulation.
All Stamping/lamination/transformer cores (with or without winding) made of-Grain Oriented Electrical Steel Sheet and Strip or Cold Rolled Non-Oriented Electrical Steel Sheet and Strip have been included in the IS Standard ISI Certification Scheme IS 3024 / IS 648. This product cannot be exported/imported or sold on the Indian consumer market without imprinting of the ISI Mark. We give you full BIS Certification Consulting services for your product from start to finish, during which you will be supported with all forms of documentation formalities, and we will take care of all connexions with the BIS Office in India.
Why is BIS certification important for Stampings/laminations/cores?
With BIS certification for Stampings/laminations/cores under the belt, manufacturers do not have to attract quality to their customers. Quality is one of the factors that determine the fate of the product. Poorly manufactured products have often failed to meet the expectations of the customer and are underperforming with compromised reliability. In the meantime, the product with the BIS registration mark tends to offer a better service life. As long as you comply with BIS, your product will gain more credibility over time. It also empowers consumers to choose the right products.
Thus, BIS is a national body that ensures the quality, safety, and reliability of products in India. The purpose of BIS is to examine the samples of the products at the preliminary stage of surveillance. India has a total of eight BIS central, four regional, and three branch laboratories.
